In your article on Indigenous Peoples Day, readers had been advised that a GoFundMe web page had been established to boost $50,000 to exchange the “Chief” signal at Toh-Atin Gallery (“Indigenous Peoples Day rally, march requires the ‘Chief’ signal to come back down,” Oct. 12). Please remember that the cash shouldn’t be being raised by Toh-Atin or anybody related to the gallery. The signal is on personal property and we aren’t asking for nor will we settle for any cash to exchange the “Chief.” There are critical wants on the Navajo reservation. Folks wishing to contribute cash can contact the Methodist Church in Durango, which supplies photo voltaic panels for Navajo houses, or a nonprofit, Dig Deep, that gives water and solar energy on the Navajo Nation.
